Use a kitchen timer to manage short, intense, and distraction-free work/study sessions.
· Step 1: Set timer for 10-15 minutes with the goal of producing a single-focused burst of work on one specific task. This 10–15-minute block of focused time is called a “Pomodoro”. Use the block of time to FOCUS on JUST ONE THING. This is not a multi-tasking activity.
· Step 2: Start the timer and give that task your undivided attention while the timer is ticking- no distractions.
· Step 3: When it’s over, it’s over! Respect the timer so when the time’s up, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING take a five-minute break.
· Step 4: Reset your timer and repeat Steps 1-3 to form a full study session. Take a longer break after you have completed your full study session.
· You did it! Celebrate your focused attention and progress!
LifeSaver candies taste good but nothing beats a kitchen timer for focused attention!
